Discover Tabata Ramen

If you're ever in the mood for a flavorful bowl of ramen in New York, look no further than Tabata Ramen, located at 1435 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10021. This cozy spot has been gaining attention from ramen lovers, both locals and tourists, thanks to its exceptional service and mouthwatering dishes. The menu here offers a variety of traditional and innovative ramen bowls, each packed with rich flavors that make every bite a delight.

What sets Tabata Ramen apart from the many ramen joints in the city is its dedication to quality ingredients and the skillful preparation of each dish. The broth, which is the heart of any great ramen, is made from scratch using carefully sourced bones and vegetables, simmered for hours to develop a deep, comforting flavor. It’s a bowl of ramen that feels like home, but with the perfect balance of authenticity and modern flair.

The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at ease as soon as you step inside. The staff is friendly and always ready with recommendations for first-time visitors, ensuring you get the most out of your dining experience. The attention to detail in both the service and food presentation adds to the overall experience, making Tabata Ramen more than just a place to grab a quick meal-it’s an experience.

One of the highlights of the menu is the signature Tonkotsu Ramen. The rich, creamy pork broth is paired with tender noodles, soft-boiled eggs, and a generous portion of braised pork belly. It’s the kind of dish that comforts and satisfies with each spoonful. For those who prefer something a bit lighter, the Shoyu Ramen offers a delicate soy-based broth with a more subtle flavor, topped with fresh vegetables and sliced chicken or pork.

In addition to the classic ramen bowls, Tabata Ramen also offers a variety of side dishes that complement the main courses perfectly. The gyoza, lightly pan-fried dumplings, are a favorite among regulars. They come with a crispy, golden-brown exterior and a juicy filling that's bursting with flavor. Another standout is their chashu rice bowl, which is topped with melt-in-your-mouth pork, making for a satisfying side or even a meal on its own.

What’s really remarkable about Tabata Ramen is how it manages to stand out in the competitive ramen scene of New York. With countless options to choose from, the restaurant has managed to carve a niche by sticking to the essentials: flavorful, hearty bowls of ramen made with high-quality ingredients, served in a welcoming environment. This focus on the fundamentals ensures that every dish is as delicious as the last, keeping customers coming back for more.

The restaurant is a hit with both locals and tourists who are looking for an authentic taste of Japan. It’s easy to see why the reviews are so positive, with many customers praising the consistency and quality of the food. Whether you're a ramen connoisseur or a newcomer to the dish, you’ll find something to love at Tabata Ramen.

Whether you're enjoying a meal with friends or grabbing a quick solo lunch, the experience at Tabata Ramen never disappoints. The atmosphere is perfect for a casual meal, and the menu offers enough variety to keep things interesting, without overwhelming you with too many choices. • Ambiance (5/5): (I think some of the vibe pictures are outdated as there is no longer a bar seating that overlooks the kitchen) It is a cozy atmosphere with the wooden wall panels and brick. The space was fairly open. Service (5/5): It was not very busy during the lunch hours so we were serviced quickly and often. Food: There was a couple of seasonal specials posted on the wall. Chicken Bun (5/5): The chicken came out piping hot with a classic chicken katsu breading that was flakey and seasoned wonderfully. The soft buns with the creamy sauce was very very good! Lava Men (5/5): There was a lot of flavor and depth to the broth. The charsiu pork pieces were perfect, a great thickness with fat to meat ratio that gave it a juicy bite. Note the soft boiled egg was actually poached and not boiled whole Tan Tan Men (5/5) (award winning): The broth was very creamy and the noodles were perfection—chewy and thick. The chicken chunks were tender as well (Although I wish I had charsiu instead or ground pork in it). Ever so slight preference for the spicy tonkotsu ramen.

  • The food here is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Water is always filled and never left less than half empty! Their hotpot (nabe) is solid, excellent for the current weather!

  • My family and I stumbled in here the other night not realizing they were closing in 30 minutes. They still sat us down and got our food out pretty quick. Not only was the service amazing, but the food was so freaking good. I’m still thinking about the pork katsu curry and my apple saketini. The pork was cooked perfectly and was so juicy, along with the very flavorful curry. My sister and cousin both ordered the BBQ beef short ribs and left no crumbs. We also tried the spicy miso ramen, which was super yummy and filling. I highly recommend their fun drinks, like the apple saketini, strawberry saketini, lychee sake, and the yuzu sake. This is a great spot to go out with your family and friends, or even for a night out. I don’t even care that I’m based in Queens, I will come out of my way for this place. I swear I am not exaggerating it! Everything was sooooo good!!!

  • This is a casual and relaxing Japanese restaurant with very fresh and impressive food and cocktails. Excellent size servings, lovely Service and soothing music. I had the best organic salmon with lots of sautéed onions, broccoli and carrots in a teriyaki sauce that was delicious. The salad was a nice fresh serving. My friends were very happy. I will definitely come back! The food is excellent!

  • Stumbled here after a picnic in Central Park and saw this place had a variety of food options. We tried their Yellowtail Sashimi special which comes in a ponzu sauce so that was easily amazing. For entrees we had the Tabata ramen and Pork Katsu Curry. The ramen was super unique to me with a coconut based chicken broth, which kinda gives it a creamy light flavor that was made even more enjoyable with the hints of spicy across. The katsu curry was cooked well, tasted great, and came with pickled daikon which makes it so much better. I think this would be a 5/5 if they also had some lettuce along with some pickled jalapeños for the Katsu Curry and for the ramen, the coconut was overpowering to me in the sense that I didn’t really taste the chicken flavor and the red onions really contributed to the flavor so when I ran out it lost a bit of flavor. But these are just my personal tastes and overall, food was still very good and would definitely come back and recommend for people to try!

  • So happy to find this place since the other location wasn't available! I actually cried because I loved the ramen there but now no more sad tears. I can finally slurp noodles and drink that amazing yuzu soda in peace. The food’s amazing as it always has been. The tonkotsu ramen was perfectly filling and the karaage was very good, especially since it was first time eating it. The staff were lovely and accommodating, made my bestie and I feel very welcomed. Plus, there was no wait to be seated. Just walked in and were instantly ushered to a table and offered water with menus. Absolutely will be coming back no doubt about it. Hopefully, I’ll learn how to use chopsticks by then, who knows?

  • We tried five different ramen noodles and every one of them is stunning! I had better ramen here than I was in Japan.
